Located south of the village of Agios Dimitrios, boutique hotel Mani suites is nestled between the rocks with a creative approach to site adaptation. The project brief was ambitious from the start as the plot had a steep inclined, tight footprint and demanding excavation into a solid rockface.
The use of vernacular materials, specifically the stone excavated from the site, allowed the built structures to truly blend with the natural local environment, along with the help of planted roofs, exposed rockfaces and overhanging gardens. Accessibility and comfort were paramount and set a footprint which allowed internal spaces to maintain a connection with the external landscape while provided areas of privacy and retreat.
